Open Source Image Cataloguing CMS?

Visiting my parents for the weekend and my Mum thinks of herself as an amateur historian and has a box full of local images, postcards, etc. not in any order. So I'm thinking (as the nice son I am) I could scan everything, add some keywords and make a nice and tidy online catalogue for her to look through with ease.

tl;dr Any open source and/or free-to-use image cataloguing CMS recommendations?

I guess darktable could be good for this. Kind of an open source Lightroom. Should be easy enough to name and passably edit scans, although depending on the number you could get a bit bored

Can definitely accept the reality of this.

Darktable looks interesting, but it looks a bit OTT for what I want to be honest. Just need something simple, image upload, keywords and a search bar tbh.

In which case, F-Spot or Shotwell.
