I am wondering what others are using for their daily computing.

I use:

7zip (compression)
InfraRecorder (burning)
Daemon Tools (ISO mounting)
FireFox/ThunderBird (web/mail)
OpenOffice (office suite)
AVG Free (anti-virius)

open source doesn't mean freeware

yes open source is free

but things like imgburn and nlite are freeware, but not open source (you can't see the code behind them and make your own)

7zip
winamp lite
media player classic
utorrent
virtual clone drive

Several of those are indeed not OSS.

Infra Recorder is, ImgBurn is not.

I use
The GIMP
Firefox
Open Office
cygwin
Audacity
Paint.NET
Filezilla
7z
PDF Creator
Pidgin
Handbrake
VLC
Media Player Classic

7zip
Open Office

Filezilla
PDF Creator
Media Player Classic
VLC

I use uTorrent but it is definitely not open source
