open suse 13.1 just released

I downloaded and installed it. And I couldn't log in. Clicked on my name, put in my password and it went to load of my desktop but then just went straight back to the log in screen. Uninstalled.
I don't know why but there always seems to be bugs with Opensuse.

What does Suse do that Debian/Ubuntu doesn't?

Not trying to start one of those angry Linux Distro fights, just wondering if there's any reason to try it out other than just preference

These are some (subjective?) reasons why one might try OpenSUSE over another distro...

  • YAST2 configuration tool is very comprehensive
  • KDE "works best" on OpenSUSE as the KDE developers use it
  • Community based (i.e. like debian rather than ubuntu)
  • btrfs offered as part of the installer
  • The OpenSUSE build system is great for other packages (although they can be built for any distro) but packages are tested daily to check they build
  • Tumbleweed is a rolling distro option in OpenSUSE

Not sure how it compares to Debian in terms of upstream packages but maybe more cutting edge but still good stability...?
