Open Window = Flies?

This is really starting to annoy me. Every time I open the window in my room more and more flies gradually make their way in to the room, and just spin around the middle of it. My room is tidy, I don't live in a rubbish dump, etc. - What is making them do this? How can I get rid of the dam things?

My room is a pig sty and I rarely get flies.

I find I get the odd fly come in but very rarely. Seems that less come in if the room is dark and they are not keen on flying around if there's an oscillating fan going in the room.

The reason for it is light, flies and other creatures like moths are attracted to lights, turn em on and you'll get a room full of em.
