Hiya me again.... :)

just been playing with openbox on ubuntu in virtualbox. I must say I only wish I had tried it sooner!!!

I simply cant believe how customisable it is!!! Its lightning quick too!! even on bloaty, slow ubuntu!!

I haven't tried OpenBox, but I have tried XFCE and that is very fast, very responsive.

Oh, Ubuntu is hardly slow or bloaty! ;)
 
What do you guys use for a desktop environment when using openbox? Just use it with gnome apps? or go with standalone apps for everything you need?

By default it is, although I'm betting that's more Gnome than Ubuntu per se (not used any other distro's with gnome),

Not used OpenBox, but I beleive Fluxbox is similar and I love that, nice and minimal :)

Have to say it does look awesome :) Think you've persuaded me to give it a spin, tbh ive only used metacity and kwin in the past, i tried fluxbox but it seemed a bit too minimal to be running on my quad core box :p
