This looks a cool peace of software, has anyone tried it?

The deduplication is the part that interests me, I have a lot of software images that are the same for my VM lab and this could potentially save me a lot of space.

Maybe useful for my mp3 collection too?

Mp3s won't compress much as they are compressed already. Vms should though.

I think there is more to it than just compression. I think it removes duplicated files and replaces them with pointer/shortcut to a single instance of the file.

The only issue with this, is that backup copies of files are kept out of scope of the dedup process.

Server 2012 I think has a similar feature built in as an installable option.
