OpenGL problems with Radeon x800 + Catalyst drivers (Win XP)

hey guys, I haven't tried playing games on my PC for like ever... however I wanted to try out that newish Amnesia game. However, when I tried to play it, it said my drivers were out of date and it couldn't load.

So I updated to the latest Catalyst drivers (10.2) that supported my card (x800 Pro). However, doing so has stopped me from opening the game, if I try to run the Launcher it just crashes (typical XP msg when a program crashes - send report etc).

If I try and run the game from the Amnesia exe which bypasses the Launcher I get an OpenGL error (to do with atioglxx.dll). I thought it could be the game...

So I got an OpenGL diagnostic program which too crashes before it can load, the same with FurMark.

If I roll back the drivers to older ones I can run the OpenGL diagnostic program and FurMark too but Amnesia says the drivers are out of date (they are from 2007).

Any ideas at all guys? I'm really stuck here.

Cheers.

I've just tried running Process Monitor. Unfortunately I'm not as clued up as many of you guys so I can't make much from it other than look at the steps before the program closes.

I believe dwwin.dll is to do with reporting an error. I notice Launcher.exe (Amnesia game) tries running dwwin.dll after 'reg query value' HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SafeProcessSearchMode says NAME NOT FOUND - I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my problem.

Error when trying to open the OpenGL diagnostic program is:

System.AccessViolationException
at openglex.Win32.oevClientInitialize() etc etc.
