Hi folks, I'm building a computer mainly for Photoshop work which makes use of something called OpenGL. I can't find anything on the GPU manufacturers' websites about it and only a few specs for graphics cards mention it. So is it some rare and mysterious property or do all cards have it but its so boring they don't mention it!

OpenGL is a graphics API (like Microsoft's DirectX) developed by the Khronos group. It fell behind somewhat in recent years, (microsoft hasnt exactly been helpful on this front for obvious reasons) so we dont really see it much in modern games, but it remains an excellent one, and many cross-platform programs make great use of it.

Don't worry about graphics card support, it'll be there :)

all cards have it, its similar to directx only not tied to windows and is supported on multiple platforms.though hasnt been updated as often and has fallen behind in features and use by the games devs.
quick google would have told you all you need to know about it.
as you mention photoshop cs4 can use it but its not essential just speeds up screen redraws while zooming etc

*edit well beaten to it lol
