Opening a drive in My Computer brings up the "what prog do you want to open with" box

The In-laws computer has started asking you what programme you want to use to open a drive using My Computer. Its all fine if you do right click explore, or are navigating folders, but the initial double click or right click open on any drive brings up that box.

any ideas why?
 
This is a virus a recent customer of mine had this, You need to download Malwarebytes anti-malware and do a good scan of the system.
 
already done with malwarebytes when there was another problem, cleared everything off. TBH the whole computer coudl do with nuking anyway, just thought id try and figure out why it was doing it.
