Does anybody know how to open a Microsoft Habu mouse, more specifically underneath the mouse buttons. Without breaking it so it can be used afterwards?

Thanks

If it's anything like the Razer DeathAdder (and I believe the two mice are very similar) you need to peel off the rear foot, which should reveal a screw.

Hi,

I actually did this about 5 days ago to mine to get all the gunk out of it.

Turn the mouse upside down and using your fingernial, remove the teflon pad at the palm end of the base. Underneath it you will find a pozidrive screw. Once you've unscrewed it, just kind of slide the upper half backwards and upwards. It should come away relatively easily.

After that its simply a case of removing the clear rubber seal (make a note of where the blue LED light flex goes in it as it can be a pain to put back in properly if you dont spot the channel its meant to go in). If like me, you want to remove the mouse buttons and clean it right out, there are a couple more screws inside the canopy which you have to remove and the mechanism is all one unit (mouse buttons). Take care if doing this as you kinda have to force them off, by lifting upwards and forwards at the same time and you could break the plastic inside that holds the button in place/ presses the button pad.

It might be easier to just dump the canopy in some warm soapy water and give it a good soak and blast through to get all that dead skin and whatever else is in there out. If you do this, make sure you really shake it out well and ensure its completely dry before putting back together.

Other than that, its just the wheel to clean and shake the junk out thats inside. You can take the board out if you wish by removing the screws.

Hope that helps anyway. :)

Thank you,

Why did you clean it out, was it just to clean it or was the something wrong with it. When i hold my left mouse button down it keeps thinking its clicking on and off. Or when i just do a normal click it will double click instead.

Do you think, the reason could be dirt or not?

Anyway i email mirosoft about it and they sent me a new mouse and didn't ask for this one back, so if it is because of dirt i can clean it and sell in on.

Thanks

I had to do this to replace the wiring, they can be dodgy and the usb cable can easily become damaged. I simpl swapped it with another (had to rewire a couple of pins).

Hi,

I cleaned mine to get the dirt out of it as the "6" button was sticking a bit (see pic below). If you have the habu software installed, check to make sure you haven't accidentally configured it so that a single click on the left mouse button, performs a double click on-screen.

Other than that, try downloading the newest firmware for the mouse. If you do this, use another mouse during the update proceedure, as the habu will be disabled and you only have a limited time to program it. Use an old PS2 mouse if possible.

If you completely fix the old one, just sell the new one ;)

Here's a screenshot of what I mean.

Hope that helps :D
