as title can i open a microsoft word doc without having office on my computer? i've reformated my hdd and my office disc doesn't seem to be working (too scratched maybe) but is there anything i can do to open 1 of my docs to edit a little and print, it's just text and a few pics

open office is free and would do it
You can open it up with Word Viewer:

But that won't let you make any changes. Apart from that there's only really OpenOffice I can think of.
