opening NEF files in PS 7

On my old comp before i formatted i used to be able to open NEF files no probs, but i've since re-installed on another system and can't for the life of me remember how i got them to open with Photoshop 7. I don't really want to install any other programs either, is there a plug-in for it??

get the new abobe raw update for photoshop
