Opening pictures (Gif and Jpg)

Hey guys.

Since yesterday I haven't been able to open .gif or .jpg images on my desktop. If I click them the screen flickers for a brief second and then nothing happens...

Really strange, anyone know what could be up? If I right click the image and choose to edit it in paint or open with photoshop it works, and I can also open the same files if I move them in to folders away from the desktop..

Are you able to open other types of files from your desktop without any problem?
Also what OS are you using?

Yeah I can open everything else but .gifs and .jpgs

As I said if I move these files to a folder they open fine, it just seems to be a problem from the desktop.. :confused:

I'm on XP Professional.
