hey i have a virgin media Dlink DIR-615 router for my 50MB connection but my ps3 and 360 are saying it's a moderate NaT type does anyone know how to change this because it seems to be giving me grief when trying to get into games.

portforward is legit, and extremely useful. You need to take a look at the router list, not download the easy 1 click software they offer, just skip the adverts

But port forwarding is going to be no good for a 360 and ps3? As you can only open the same port for 1 IP

Or will he have to port forward one IP and DMZ the other?

Single IP address, you can only port forward to one device, putting the other in the "DMZ" won't work, you only have one ip.

I did this the other day with the same router

1. Set up so that your xbox has a static IP.

2. Log into the router and go to the advanced tab then port forwarding on the left.

3. Open ports 50, 88, 80, 3074 (TCP and UDP on all of them)

4. Save and be happy

hope that helps

Well yes, you can have one or the other.

Or you just use PnP but that isn't particularly reliable from my experience.

having the same prob myself and posted in the networking section

i got 2 xbox 360s and a sky router one says open the other says moderate

from what i can gather the only way to get it working is to daisy on one of the routers that will do 2 ports

Give static IP's to your consoles and then find out what the UDP and TCP ports are for PSN & XBOX Live and assign them within a menu of your router against the static IP's(sorry each router is different so just follow your nose through the menus, sometimes its called Gaming, other times just port forwarding) Also enable uPnP, which is supposed to take care of the above without all the opening of the ports.... Should work most of the time, but for some unknown reason it's not always the case.

I don't know the ports req'd of the top of my head, but i'm sure google does.. ;)

You never need to open port 80 for either console, no matter what pages say.

360 ports

PS3 are not listed anywhere officially iirc
UDP port 3478-3479
UDP port 3658-3659

Are in one of my old configs, might be TCP and UDP.

My old Thomson Speedtouch would never let me get a game on FIFA. I had all ports stated in the manual open. On my Netgear with my PS3 in the DMZ games are no longer a problem
