Fellas,

I figured some of you may be interested in this. Basically over the past 8 months or so I have been busy working on the foundations of territories/leases/negotiations/meetings/financing etc (boring stuff essentially) which has led to now, we have a lease offer that we are about to sign and open up our very own Anytime Fitness in Louisville.
I have just finalized the layout of the gym, met with the contractors yesterday and we are aiming to be open in mid-to-late October.

I still have loads of decisions to be made (design & input), equipment (now and in the future) and the general feel/look of the club. Next month I go to headquarters for a week to meet the Franchise owners, training, meet with vendors etc, all good stuff.

To say it has been stressful is an understatement and we haven't even got the keys yet :p but myself and wife are extremely excited (and ****** nervous!). It has been bit of a roller coaster to get where we are, the deal was off and dead in the water, several times  but in the end perseverance as always, paid off.

So, if anyone is interested I will keep you guys up to date on the happenings and as always I'd be happy for peoples valued input (just remember this is not an air raid shelter with Rocky style weights ;))

Here is something to get you guys excited, I am going with the 2013 Hammer Strength HD Power Rack w/ land mine and rotating chin up (will be getting 2)

Dat rack!! lol They are incredibly solid and very well made, and not that expensive either!
Cheers guys, this is like making it Facebook official :D

lol does look like some kind of Transformer. Maybe I should get one yellow and one blue, place them opposite each other then watch the security cameras?

that's from Aliens, not transformers ;)

Well, Aliens, Alien, or one of them films :p

Best of luck mate! Would love to do something like that, would be pretty cool

im really interested in following this as me and my brother plan on opening a gym in the future!!

what budget have you got for this? what is actually required to open a gym?

look forward to more updates!!!

are you going to take photos of before, during and after the kit out ?

would be interesting to see
Yes, I have taken quite a few pics in it's initial stage. I am currently stressing out about the ceiling. It currently has acoustic tile (drop ceiling), but I want an exposed ceiling (sprayed duct work etc, all white). Proving to be a little more challenging and expensive than hoped. I'll certainly be taking lots of pics throughout the process.

Budget is a lot I'm not going to lie (well for me it is!), but it's more important for cash flow than anything else. Most of the stuff is done through leasing etc which takes away a lot of the upfront costs, but you still have deposits to make. What is actually required to open a gym is all dependent on what type of gym you'll be opening. Ours has 24-hour access and an extremely impressive security system, cardio, strength, free weights and fitness on demand (classes 24/7).
It's a risk and an adventure, but I'm very excited about it all!

So probs about 100k?

I would love to do something like this!
Literally all depends tbh, how it is financed, who is running it, what you need to take out of the business etc. So many factors are involved. Then you have your rent (main cost) to weigh up, these change considerably where you are located.

not a fan of all in ones but that rack does look good tbh

Some things you can and can't have. We'll be having 2 of the above, smith machine, 5-100lb DB's, Oly bars, barbells etc

Yep! Benefit from that, is sometimes users just put them against the wall, scratch it all up and even create a hole.
None of that with this.
