OpenOffice - how do I vertical line?

Basically I am trying to get the effect whereby you have have a horizontal line across the screen and anywhere there is text it breaks the line.

So you could have:

Text -----------------------------
--------------------------- Text -
----------- Text -----------------

etc.

I want the line to be continuous and have "middle vertical alignment" like a hyphen.

It's just a standard character from the charmap (ALT+196).

Copy + paste it?

Not knowing difference between horizontal and vertical is just :eek:

Tried copy and paste didn't work....

LOL....just noticed that. Thanks.

EDIT: Whenever I export to PDF it comes up with a dotted line rather than consistent.

Start > Run > "charmap"

Copy it from there, if it still isn't working then whatever typeface you are using doesn't have that character in its library, so is substituting with a dash/minus.
