hey guys anyone here orderd a pandora from www.openpandora.org.
i pre-ordered mine a good 6 months ago and the new is we still wont be getting it till late march early april!!!
im not happy to say the least but ill still pay and wait.

I had one pre-ordered but have had to not re-pay as in not willing to pay by bank transfer, gonna wait till there in stock and i can buy one with a CC.

ill be bank transfering, waited to long to not get the first batch, if i were you id keep your place in the first batch and sell it upon arival for a pretty penny

Its not that im short on money its that buying something via bank transfer offers zero security and isnt wise. I'm pretty gutted I wont be getting one from the first batch, but i suppose when i do come to get one there will be a nice software base already established.

Edit: also it's not called openpandora, the device is called pandora and the company is called openpandora

ill take the risk, if they rip me of they will face my flames, after all it is a community device and the community is the dominant party in this project.

I'm not expecting them to rip anyone off, but with all the delays etc it could cause more financial problems and as it was going to be a birthday present (my birthday was back in August :p) I wasn't paying, my brother(s) weren't prepared to pay by bank transfer (I don't blame them).

I'll defiantly be watching the progress of the whole project closely and hope to see some great software and games for it, I may contribute something myself, probably a pandora specific version of my currently work in progress Advance wars clone for the gp2x.

this is similar to an eee pc in specs.
600 mhz arm cortex processor (can be oced to 900mhz)
* ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux
* 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core
* PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D hardware
* 800x480 4.3" 16.7 million colours touchscreen LCD
* Wifi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth & High Speed USB 2.0 Host
* Dual SDHC card slots & SVideo TV output
* Dual Analogue and Digital gaming controls
* 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad
* Around 10+ Hours battery life

this runs linux by default and can have ubuntu, or any other linux distro installed. it plays any game supported by linux (and that meet that hardware) open arena, tux racer, urban terror ect ect
it will also play a plethora of older titles via emulators
n64
sega
atari
amiga
dosbox
gamboy
and many native pandora games are being made (bobs game and many many many more)

consider it a ds sized laptop with gaming controls and linux at its core.

Pretty much anything you want, provided u or someone can program it or port the program to it. It can run full linux distros (ones that are compatible with ARM) and thus should be able to run some linux games provided the source is open and it doesnt rely on x86 specific things (directX). The forums at www.gp32x.com/board are a great place to find out more about it.

Edit: Crew I wouldn't put n64 in the emulators list, its by no means a certainty, while the hardware 'may' be able to handle it, its still a big task to write/port a nice working emulator to it and currently there isnt anyone i know of working on it. Zottd is busy with other tasks.

It seems to be a tad more "game/performance oriented" then N810, but without cool things like GPS or screen flipping (which is useful for navigation thing as I ride a motorbike and the tank bag has a vertical see through pocket on it). More power then N810 wouldn't hurt, I love it (N810), but do see the lack of power in viewing flash/java script heavy websites.

But seeing as N810 which is a bit more feature rich is about £240 and that thing is meant to be around £200, I know what I would still go for. what would be awesome I think is something with N810 features but with a tad more powerful chip.

Looks dodgy. Never pre-order technology, if it's good it will be released.

At best it will be like a GP32/Gizmondo/Ngage.
At worst it's like the Phantom and you all get scammed.

It'll come out. Craig is a great and reliable guy, he wouldn't have the audacity to rip everyone off like this.
