OpenSSH Windows (Cygwin) failing to run

Hi,

I'm trying to install OpenSSH using Cygwin on my server PC.

I have it running perfectly on my other PC, so I'm not doing anything wrong during the install.

Basically, when it comes to running the .sh files after the downloads have finished it just hangs, it's been on 14% for ages now.

I tried installing SSHWindows on this same server and when it came to running sshd.exe it just said ACCESS_VIOLATION (as in a memory ACCESS_VIOLATION IIRC) and refused to run, I'm guessing the same thing is happening with Cygwin/OpenSSH now.

I have disabled quite a few services on this server PC so I'm guessing that's what the problem is. Are there are Windows services I have to have running for this to work?

The following are disabled:
WebClient
Alerter
ClipBook
Error Reporting Service
Help and Support
HTTP SSL
Human Interface Device Access
Indexing Service
IPSEC Services
Messenger
Network DDE
Network DDE DSDM
Network Location Awareness NLC
Print Spooler
Protected Storage
Remote Registry
Routing and Remote Access
Secondary Logon
Security Center
SSDP Discovery Service
System Restore Service
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
Telnet
Themes
Windows Time

Thanks,
Craig.

Or FreeSSHd - never used it (we use BitVise WinSSHd on our windows servers) but it's meant to be quite good - and integrates with NT authentication etc.

I was gonna say FreeSSHd or WinSSHd, although i am have minor trouble with the latter myself right now, its far easier to set up than openSSH through cygwin. Never heard of CopSSH sounds interesting though i may have a nose at it.

I'll give them a go, but I ultimately want to set up OpenSSH/Cygwin - I already have it running on my second PC, my server just refuses to run the setup files though.

I'll give CopSSH, FreeSSHd, WinSSHd etc. a go to see if they set up, although I have a feeling they won't. I think a service has been disabled that services like that require.
