Opensuse 11.0 Released Today

Is this with KDE 4? I wasn't expection opensuse 11 to be released for a while tbh, and I have a feeling it might be a tad rushed (like fedora 9). I'll give it a go some time though :)

Looks quite nice and tidy, I'm downloading as we speak. I have a problem with linux: I usually work more efficiently with vista or xp with day to day activities. At least this the fact with gnome and kde 3.5 with konqueror. I'll give this a try though, maybe I'll get used to working with it :)

argh. my laptop has a problem with partitions since i last got rid of the ubuntu one, and it keeps giving me an error when trying to re partition. i guess im gonna have to give it a miss atm :/ report back if it is any good! :)

I didn't get on with it. Way too bloated with loads of stuff i don't need/use.
Everything is overly complicated. i prefer the simplicity of Ubuntu.
I couldn't convert people from windows with SUSE like i do with Ubuntu.

I have never really liked suse feels bloated. plus I didnt really like that they did a deal with microsoft.

The thing with ubuntu is it flies on older hardware but newer stuff its horribly slow.

OpenSuse is a lot faster than ubuntu on all of my setups, boots faster, apps run quicker, compiz-fusion is smoother etc.

Not sure where you got this "bloat" from, it has roughly the same amount of apps ubuntu has on a default install

Least they actually provided banshee 1.0, ubuntu is still using a version which is nearly what, 3 years old?

Ubuntu has a horrible default look which is not appealing to new users either imo, opensuse has a slick look and feel to it.

Funny that all the reviews are giving opensuse 11 a full 10/10 and you feel like its bloated

Bloat is all the apps the average person will never need
banshee isnt provided by ubuntu at all let alone an old version
As for looks, i agree i'm not keen and have changed mine i also changed the suse one the second i logged in

reviews....is one persons words and feelings, my review to my clients is going to be different :)

Weird how it's different for everyone, ubuntu is stupidly slow for me on both my amd and intel setups :o

As i said, opensuse comes with practically everything ubuntu does on a default install, there is barely any difference between the two

Looks are not the only problem with ubuntu, the whole "we are linux" attitude is what bothers me the most, there is a lot better distros out there than ubuntu (arch, for example), i changed the suse one as well but i feel the start up screen, splash screen etc on opensuse is MUCH nicer than that on ubuntu and actually looks like its been done professionally, ubuntu always reminds me of pre95 days for some reason lol.

You have to admit though, opensuse's default gnome look is much much nicer on the eyes than the poostain brown ubuntu choose.
