In a quest to reduce 'bufferbloat' on my 5g connection, I've installed/flashed OpenWRT to a basic thin client, to act as a router with SQM.

I was using NetLimiter, which seemed to work really well, but the free trial was only a month.

So yeah, I've gone from a bufferbloat score of D to A+.

Well worth doing if you're on a 5g connection!

@Finners

That's what I've been most surprised by.

Using Netlimiter I had to drop the D/L to I think it was 2Mbps and U/Lto 1Mbps.

With the OpenWRT set up at default it got an A @85Mbps D/L and 10 Mbps U/L.

Thought I was going to be in for an hour of tinkering and after dropping the D/L to 75 Mbps D/L it got an A+!

I'm new to networking though, so not sure what to make of all this, only that it seems to work!
