Opera 10.6

Just changed from Firefox once again. I have changed to this browser many a time, stuck with it for a day or so and then gone back to Firefox. Think I may try and get used to Opera now though as it is a really decent browser.

How is the memory consumption compared to Firefox?

Given the amount of RAM in a modern PC, this is usually irrelevant.

Fixed.

Firefox is the best in terms of memory usage, but is lacking in other departments unfortunately - this version of Opera is supposed to have some sort of improvement to the already ninja Javascript engine.

Opera's development speed is quite impressive. 10.10 was released on November 23rd 2009. 10.50 March 2nd 2010 and 10.60 today, July 1st 2010. :p
this version of Opera is supposed to have some sort of improvement to the already ninja Javascript engine.

Opera 10.60 is based on a brand new version of Opera's rendering engine, Presto 2.6.30 and includes support for several new web technologies, such as Geolocation, Web Workers and Offline Applications. In addition Opera 10.60 is the first final browser that has support for the high quality video format WebM.

During the development of Opera 10.60 we also focused on stability, performance and alignment of all platforms. 10.60 has notably improved Javascript and DOM performance, and since 10.54 almost a thousand bugs have been fixed. Unix users can now also enjoy a final version of Opera with the speed of the new Javascript engine Carakan, and other features that have been introduced in 10.50 and 10.60.

Changelist

I really like Opera but unfortunately there are some extensions that I use with FF which means that I do tend to drift back to using that browser.

Finally got around to installing this myself. Quite pleased that the windows taskbar hover thing previews the windows open now - not all the tabs.

I would love to go back to Opera (I used to use it every day) but until they support extensions (namely LastPass) I can't see myself switching any time soon :( It's great to see how quickly their releases are coming out though - they have some great features.
