An Important piece of the puzzle

Many of you were waiting for this day to come ...
Opera is one of the most customizable browsers in the world, with many powerful, built-in features, but that is not enough for us.
Today we go a step further -- we add another piece of the puzzle: Opera extensions!
I am happy to share an alpha version of Opera 11 with extensions on board.

Yeah it already has 3rd party extensions, just not as many as Chrome or FF.

Still if a really good ad blocker comes along I think people will seriously consider Opera.

It doesn't have proper extensions like Firefox has. It has widgets and Unite. Both are not proper extensions.

This is what Opera are adding in version 11

I use Opera as my main browser and do not feel any need for adblock.

Conversely, I switched from Opera because it doesn't have Adblock. The internet really is a lot nicer to use without adverts.

(Being able to edit some INI file to block URLs doesn't count. I want something which updates itself!)

I started using Opera just before version 9 came out and have used it since then. It's a really nice browser, works well, the mouse gestures are amazing. yes you can get them on other browsers but they are here built in. Speed Dial is really useful and it's just good! lol

Yea but who cares if it was built in? Firefox has had extensions to do that (and pretty much anything) for years :D

Opera has always been good to me.Tried Firefox and do not see what the fuss is all about. Not a fan of installing plugins to do things I want to do, easier if I can just turn it on.

I love Opera and have used it for years. The main feature that I love is the right then left click to go backwards and left then right click to forwards. I keep finding myself trying it in windows and most other programs and getting annoyed when it doesn't work, lol.

I'm not saying I use Opera just because a specific feature is built in. I decided to try Opera one day and liked it. I also gave Firefox a try but it just didn;t grasp me like Opera did.

I'm not saying Firefox is horrible. Just that it's not for me.

and with extensions in Opera 11, it will become more like Firefox in that respect but we'll see the differences in how Opera go about it, won't we!

Yeah but Firefox is slower and some extensions do crash,I should know since I have been Firefox user for many years ,I have gone back to Opera because its faster and more stable.

I use Opera, but have to say it sucks on the autotrader website
There are quite a few sites where Opera can't render the pages properly. I had a problem with Rotten Tomatoes a while back but it seems it was the site rather than Opera as the problem was fixed without a new version of Opera being made available.

I find that the mask/masquerade as Firefox/IE options CAN help. Example is that the Amazon wishlist looks a lot better when masquerading as IE but then the other pages on Amazon look worse like that so its back to the default Opera settings for those pages.

I think the best thing to do with any website that doesn't look right or look like Firefox/IE etc render it then a) contact the website to see if they can help (like Rotten Tomatoes fixed something on their site) and b) tell Opera themselves to see if there's something they can do to make Opera render that page better in the next version of the browser.

This post was written in Iron because Opera will load a page up then refuse to do anything for a few minutes before loading pages again. This is on my work computer, all fine at home. :):p

eBay selling pages, Betfair has problems with staying logged in. There are quite a few other sites that have never worked yet seemingly the problem is never addressed.

It's handy that it has the old 'Open with' feature on the right click menu.

my firefox does this though i have no clue if it's an addon or standard. i'd like to use opera but i rely too much on the extensions for work that it would be impossible to switch without losing too much. opera seems much more polished
