Opera getting worse?

Crikey! That's made an immediate and huge difference! Will post back when I've had some more time using it but it seems like one hell of a change.

Thanks a lot :)

Sadly the effects did not last :( And more worryingly, I'm currently experiencing cursor and typing lag using Opera, so I opened task manager to find this:

Well Redgie, you're doing better than me. :D I often find Opera hitting just over a gig of mem usage. Near 5 gig is an achievement!! I have 8 gig of RAM so Opera using 1 gig doesn't really affect me. But that is ridiculous. Do you leave Opera running? Like on standby? Just wondering if you leave your PC on for a few days if Opera will just gradually grow in size. Do you use the x86 or x64 version of Opera?

I use x64, and my PC is never left on :( That was only a few minutes after turning the PC on and only a few seconds after turning Opera on! I only have 6GB so as you can see it was just stretching to use all the RAM possible! Seems better today but I'm just leaning more and more to Chrome :( I'll miss that little red O.

Yikes. If that happens within seconds then something is very wrong. Re-install Opera and think about wiping your profile and starting anew!

I'll be doing a clean Opera install if it happens again. My profile is domain based so would rather avoid messing with that!

On the day that Opera 12.15 came out (current release, 4th April) I was unable to access my Fastmail account. I tweeted @FastmailFM about it and got no reply, however the next day I forgot that I'd had problems with Fastmail and accessed Fastmail without any problems.

Well 2 days ago the same problem has returned and again I've tweeted @FastmailFM. The really annoying thing is that both times Fastmail is easily accessible through Firefox, Chrome and IE.

The really, stupid, ironic, annoying thing is that Fastmail is now owned by Opera. So it's a bit like Chrome failing to access Gmail or IE failing to access Hotmail/Outlook.com. :D:rolleyes:

I have to say that Firefox, Chrome and even IE are starting to look a bit more appetising as they work solidly. I've noticed Opera becoming quite laggy of late and with 8GB of RAM I shouldn't have a problem.

New profile time?

I've been a fellow Opera user for almost 10 years. Can't say I've really noticed any drastic problems aforementioned here like slow down. They have been some changes that have been annoying and some problems like the dam close button moving to the left under a tap sometimes. Used it for too long to want to change. I'm use to its quirks.

I'm at work now and Opera 12.15 x86 works fine with Fastmail. I've just installed Opera 12.15 x64 and that also works. So either the problem's been fixed or there's something wrong with Opera on my home PC.

That's a weird one.

I used Opera for around 3 months back in 2008 and quite enjoyed the experience. The only reason I didn't end up switching full time was that Firefox is so brilliant.

Sad to see them dropping Presto though.

It's been going down hill for the past couple of years. I used it exclusively for the past 10+ years, but have slowly moved back to IE, which I never thought I'd do.

The first sign it was going downhill was certain websites not looking right... that's now spread to most websites not looking quite as intended, to outright not working. It's also much slower than it used to be; both opening the application through to browsing the web.

I've never liked Firefox, so I'm not going down that road - ditto for Chrome, so IE it is!

I've been using Opera for about 2 yrs now, however I find it crashes quite a bit, or hangs when watching videos on Youtube.

I really like Speed Dial & Dragonfly. I'll use Chrome every now and then, but will not be going back to IE in any foreseeable future.
