Howdy

I cannot open .pdf. files. I get a load of corrupted text. If instead, i right click and save the .pdf, i can open this no problem with adobe reader 7

I use Opera v 9.2 + XP pro SP2, but as a curiosity, i tried the same files on the website i was visiting using IE7 instead, and they opened in the browser without a hitch !

I guess theres some fangly dingle dangle drop down menu with a zillion options in Opera that should cure this but i cant find it :)

Ok - good stuff. Had to add a .dll to the opera plug in directory. So far so good...but it seems i need to do something else:

"You can change the way Opera opens the PDF documents in Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Downloads Edit the MIME type assosiated with pdf files to either "Use plug-in" or "Open with default application".

I dont know what a MIME is or how to edit to achieve USE PLUGIN or OPEN WITH DEFAULT APP.

There is no.pdf file type in the file list under Tools/Prefs/advanced/downloads.

The nearest i can see that looks close is app/vnd.adobe.xfdf

Ah.. didnt realise i had to uncheck " hide file types opened with Opera "

Well the .pdf file ext. is now there in the list, and highlighting that , then EDIT, reveals those options i found earlier

" use default app. " ... "use Plugin"

neither of which work. Still opens in the browser with a load of weird looking gobbledy gook

I just installed Acrobat Reader 8 and it worked fine.

Only thing I can suggest is to make sure you close Opera, then re-open it so it can find the plugin.

Also if you select "default app" it should just load it in Acrobat Reader instead of the browser.

Hi Sly - well with your help its working fine just using the " use plugin "

I think i'm going to leave well alone. :D

So - cheers matey
