Had a letter from them recently accusing me of going over 30mph at Sedlescombe on the A21 and overtaking with oncoming traffic. Some parts of the A21 are very long and straight so overtaking with oncoming traffic is not dangerous or unheard of.
Well although I was on the A21 at the time mentioned the speed limit on the A21 at Sedlescombe is 50 for a short section by a major junction and 60 either side of it.
I hardly ever speed in a 30 limit so I complained by asking for more accurate details. Today I got a fairly brief email saying they had cancelled the report and apologised for any inconvenience!
So some scumbag somewhere decided to note my reg number and complain. But why, if there was obviously no real or accurate evidence, was the original letter sent.
Around here we have so many people who think 40mph everywhere is best, that 50 is the limit on a single carriageway and overtaking is dangerous at any time. Sadly Sussex has the least miles of motorway and very limited dual carriageway which people don't seem to learn about.
Andi.

They can't issue a fine/points based on a complaint, so meh. Probably just one of those community speed wombles. Most likely they "cancelled" it when questioned about it to avoid being sued for defamation or something :p

The 40mph everywhere people are all over these days, really annoying. Especially on slip roads where it's geniunely dangerous to be going that slow.

As above, sounds like one of these loons with nothing better to do than community speed watch as just jotted down your reg. Queue an instant letter printed off at the police station and sent forward.

Maybe we should have a campaign of to including writing a letter to the plebs who drive at 35mph in 40, 50 and 60mph limits, thus ignoring the highway code recommendation of "making effective progress".
Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting breaking the speed limit (though I'd like to see a number reviewed again and set to appropriate (often higher) levels.

you get morons and lane hoggers everywhere. soon as you undertake them or overtake in and oncoming lane they will make it their duty to try and get one up on you now.

number of people that think i'm doing the limit so i have no need to pull over to left lane to let the queue behind me past is unreal.

but I thought all good drivers did 40 in an NSL, and then continued to do 40 in the 30.... because they are good, right?

Lol, if they’re doing the limit, why exactly do they have to move out of your way??
