Operation Flashpoint 2-Dragon Rising.

Confirmation of no further patches or additional DLC

With the upcoming release of the Overwatch DLC on PS3, and a few "heated" threads on the topic, I just wanted to inform you all that the team have now completed the “Dragon Rising” chapter of Operation Flashpoint and that’s it for DR-related content going forward.

We are sorry if Dragon Rising and the two DLCs released to date have left you wanting even more, but in the grand scheme of future plans and schedules the vast majority of the team are already busy planning the future of modern combat.

We're aware that this news might disappoint some of you, but I kindly ask that you all please keep any future posts on this topic mature and constructive.

As ever, post-release tech support continues as normal, and if you do have any technical issues with the game then please don't hesitate to contact our customer services team at [email protected]

From a community perspective, I’m still here to help you all and will continue to pass on comments and feedback from the community to the dev team, so please keep on posting and letting us your thoughts regarding the game, or even what you’d like to see in future titles and maybe sequels!

^ ^ Just another money making scheme from CodeM. Not cared about fan loyalty or the game in the grand scheme of things.. just money.

ArmA for the win :D

Has anyone encountered/solved the issue with the game restricting what resolutions are available? Highest available option for me is 1280 x 1024 iirc.

The game runs flawlessly and I think I'd probably be fine with playing at a lower res if I can't fix it, but it's a little annoying not being able to select native res none the less.

There's an aspect ratio setting that you might have to change, make sure it is set to the correct aspect for your display.

Not sure what to make of this so far, I like the graphics and performance is fine (60-80fps with everything on high except shadows). However the controls feel a bit clunky, the whole quick command menu seems very convoluted/confusing especially as after issuing an order it remains up and it shares keys with movement, so often you will say tell your team to do something and then instantly try to start moving, but you end up simply giving them an additional random order instead, so you have to start over.

Also I have quite a lot of trouble spotting enemies unless I have a thermal scope, now to be fair as an OpFlash game I suppose that is to be expected, camoflagued enemies hundreds of metres away shouldn't be that easy to spot.

Coming towards the end of the third mission now and a little surprised at how little combat there is, again maybe this is the realism element creeping in but it certainly isn't as hi-octane as MOH/COD/BC2 etc.

Have tried setting it to all 3 settings (16:9, 16:10, Auto), unfortunately it has no bearing on the maximum resolution it will allow me to choose.

It's a niggle rather than a game breaker, looks fine to me at 1280 x 1024 and I don't get the impression there would be a massive difference in visual quality if I were playing at native.

Just completed this, despite all the negative press for me this game is worth the £2.24 pricetag, according to Steam I played 11 hours but ignoring menu/paused stuff etc I reckon that was probably around 8 hours of gaming.

The Good:
+Graphics
+Performance
+Underarm grenade rolls, so many games make it virtually impossible to put grenades through a close up hole due to the arc, but OFDR gives us a nice solution
+Squad comms calling out enemy direction and distance, it both adds to atmosphere and is useful in game
+Sound effects in general are fairly good
+Artillery strikes are nice, suitable effective and don't require pinpoint accuracy if you choose to scatter your shots

The Bad:
-A few continuity issues with checkpoints, on one mission I reached a checkpoint before I was supposed to (hadn't killed all the AA teams, which was a primary objective), meaning that my evac never showed up. Another mission it saved just before this person I was tracking got too far away, meaning that the mission would be failed a few seconds after resuming from the checkpoint. In both cases I had to restart the level as you can only resume from the last checkpoint, not any before
-Checkpoints in general are a bit erratic, some levels I kept having to trek half a mile and then fight my way past the same baddies a few times.
-Weapon selection is a bit iffy, for example if you select a shoulder fired weapon you have to wait like 5s while you set it up, even if you change your mind and want to draw a different weapon instead
-Should be able to set the Medic to auto-heal wounded squadmates, it gets a bit tiresome having to give him orders all the time.
-Player controlled vehicles are under-utilised
