As this has had a name change and release date confirmed I though I'd start a new thread with the correct title and current up to date info, all tidy etc.

I've followed the project/forum daily for the last year so feel free to shoot any questions my way and I'll try and answer them.

Some random game facts

-220km island that takes 5 hours real time to sprint across

-Dynamic weather and full real time 24 hour day and night cycles

-Over 70 weapons and 30 vehicles

-All real sound recordings of weapons and vehicles and fully authentic models and attachments

-4 player coop

-MP

-Proper bullet physics

-Limb dismemberment and fully modeled wounds

-Pain staking attention to realism and USMC input

-3 game modes including assisted, normal and hardcore (the AI and damage models stay the same but you get less HUD until you get to hardcore where the HUD is completely removed)

-Non scripted AI that uses real military handbooks

The release date is the 9th of October for the UK with a demo confirmed for XBOX, PS3 and PC

Between now and then we have a new video coming which will show the game being played on hardcore mode.

Here are the best videos and some nice screens.

That looks astoundingly good!

Wonder if there will be any games online based on the whole map, having to rush to reinforce other areas etc.. :D

The whole map is almost too big for that.....but there's no boundaries. Even on the campaign missions if you wander off you'll come across other fights happening on the island. Although the whole island can be covered in a chopper in 25 mins. Flanking becomes more about how much time you're willing to put in and not just where the edge of the map is. :D

There's of course standard team death match as well as a few more....one of which is hold an objective like an oil refinery with minimal weapons while the other team have to take the objective. Every building can be entered and destroyed.

On hardcore there's no kill confirmation, meaning you'll never quite know what happened to the guy you thought you shot unless you get a confirmation on the body. If you want to check the amount of ammo in your gun you'll have to check it manually or try and keep track of how many shots you fired. If you reload when your clip isnt empty it goes back in your ruck sack and has to be used again later.

Oh the endless hours I frittered away messing about on those big maps with my mate in OFP... This looks brilliant, will be worth a punt.

Any detail on the MP yet? I'm hoping for at least 32v32 all asset to replace Battlefield 2 PR, but people are telling me nasty things about it being gimped 8v8 where you get AI squadmates to help out... I so hope that's not the whole of it :(

The question is, this or COD:MW2?

The problem with getting both is a lack of time, and neither would ever get a suitable amount of attention.

I am leaning towards this one at the moment - though of course I will wait for reviews.

It may be around the 8v8 or even 4v4. The game is far too complex for 32 v 32 though (on console). each person will have 3 AI team mates to command.

Totally different games..MW2 is a linear arcade shooter and this is a sandbox tactical military sim. Both will be great in their own right. Personally I'm not going anywhere near MW2 as I've had far too much COD recently.

EDIT:

Just so you guys know if you go to XBOX live market place and go videos>e3 2009> operation flashpoint....there's a vid there you can download.

Looking forward to this and that release date is getting pretty damn close now :D

Watched a video of someone calling an air-strike in last night, jaw literally stayed wide open through the whole clip!
