First of all, I apologise if this costs anyone a sale in the members market....

But I've just installed and tried my free copy of Operation Flashpoint: Red River that came with my new CPU!

Hands down one of the worst games I think I've ever played!!

Surely Codemasters can walk to the shops, buy any reputable war FPS and know instantly that they have missed the mark by a country mile!!!!

From the mundane "shoot these targets so we know you can use a mouse" intro to the seemingly endless "driving to a small town to have a battle listening to the commander spouting ****" this has to be the worst FPS I've played!

And thats without even commenting on the single file, same route AI!!! :D

Avoid at all costs imo....... I feel ripped off.....and didnt even pay for it!

rant over...

:p

best thing is the game before was exactly the same but people still bought it says "it'll be different this time"

this and all the cod threads makes me think gamers are like a beaten housewife.

Every time they come out the hospital and go home saying "he said he won't do it again, it'll all be different this time", then they're back in A&E in udner a week.

heehee.... :D (laughing at the analogy, not the housewife beating bit!!)

Dont get me wrong, the clue was there before I tried it with it being free!! ;)

He said he laughed at the analogy, the content of the analogy was a wife beating comparison. But he didnt laugh at the wife beating part.

So it just sounded wrong the way he said it, like he didnt laugh at anything since thats what the analogy comprised.

Ok letting it slide in 3, 2, 1...

I actually played the original OF on console and it sort of worked, they made a complicated fps game work on a controller, and it had a sort of novelty factor going for it.

But on pc its shot down by arma in all areas.

Arma 2/Operation Arrowhead

Depending on whether you want to play in forests or in a big open desert. You will need ACE mod to play on a lot of servers.

Some servers also require you have both games, collectivey referred to as "combined ops". So my reccomendation is to get combined ops, this has been on sale numerous times on steam. You can get both games if you like on seperate occasions, then they should automatically become combined ops if theyre on steam.

Original ArmA looks dated, its got a handful of popular servers, it also runs very well on modern pc's.

You obviously have not played many PC games then this is nowhere near that bad at all. Its designed to be played with 3 Human Co-Op squad mates but is perfectly playable with the AI nothing wrong with it whatsoever except players moaning constantly even when they get it free  The other big problem is people try to play it like an FPS & ignore the instructions or fail to see about the controls for giving squad commands :(

Its a tactical squad based FPS which is going for a semi-realistic theme. If you put a few hours in you would see that or played some online Co-Op which has been very active since launch & offers some very frantic & fun filled action with friends or randoms.
