Anyone going to this? (Or any of the other UK dates)

I got my tickets as soon as i heard that Opeth were playing at the Portsmouth Pyramids centre. It's only down the road from me, so thats pretty handy

Should be cool to see Paradise Lost as Special Guests too, i've only heard their Gothic and Draconian Times albums, which werent too bad. :)

Going to see them at Rock City in Nottingham on Tuesday....can't wait :D Seen em twice before.

me too... saw em them at manchester!

yes im going nottingham!

Yeah i've seen them at the Forum and Mean Fiddler in london so far, they're so enjoyable to watch live, really looking to my third at Portsmouth! :)

Well, all i can say about the show last night was that they were awesome!
As per usual!

They even played "The Night and the Silent Water"!!

Thats one of my favourites!

Was really suprised as they're supposed to hate that song with a passion, i recorded part of it on video, it looked amazing... but then i deleted it by accident, by not choosing to save it. Was absolutely gutted :(

Paradise Lost were enjoyable too, i recommend everyone to go and see Opeth on the remaining UK dates, you wont regret it!

Plus the London show they're recording for a possible DVD! :)

I've been getting into some Opeth, after a mate played me a track called 'Benighted'. Bought Ghost Reservies, which is amazing. What other songs/albums would you recommend?

damnation. deliverance. damnation. black waterpark. still life.

All albums. all Amazing.

Not forgetting My Arms, Your Hearse, they're heaviest and best work... (Just because its heavy, doesnt equate to it being the best, i know. But it just is immense)

Just listen to "When", "the Amen Corner" "demon of the fall" ah heck, just the whole album!!

:D

So bad that everyone at an Opeth gig can be heard chanting ''DEMON! DEMON! DEMON!''?

Seriously though, it's an amazing album...it's up there as their best with Still Life for me, closely followed by Blackwater Park, Orchid, Deliverance and Damnation, then Ghost Reveries. Morningrise is definitely the worst...some great songs (e.g. Advent; To Bid You Farewell) but generally lacks coherence and structure, I find.

Yeah i'd have to agree with you mainly Spirit7.

My Arms, Your Hearse (equal to Still Life)
Blackwater Park
Deliverance
Morning Rise (i think thats a good album personally, love loads of the songs, needs a remastering i think)
Damnation
Orchid
Ghost Reveries (just think its their weakest)

Also, recommend Mikael's Bloobath album, Resurrection Through Carnage is great :)
Dunno about the newest release with the new vocalist, as i havent heard it.

Not to mention Mikael's guest vocals on all the songs on Katatonia's ''Brave Murder Day'' album.

ah thats right, Katatonia are great, although Tonight's Decision and Discouraged Ones are my fave albums. He had to take over from Jonas on Brave murder Day didnt he?
Because Jonas was having trouble with that style i think... if my memory serves me correct that is.

Good to see some guys liking my fave bands :D

"Bloodbath"

and no its not a great album in my eyes, at all. its so so.

as for opeth last night was a firestorm!

blackwater park to finish, deliverance for encore doesnt get much better.

as for paradise lost....never again do i want to see.
