A few comments:

  1. Would anyone argue in favour of replacing the 4890 with an nVidia card?
  2. I've seen talk of the Silverstone FT02; I'll try to hold out for that. Or maybe go for the RV02 (but it's not on OcUK).
  3. The PSU seems reasonable, I think?
  4. Any better alternative on the SSD?
  5. I saw Patriot Viper II once upon a time, but I think that's not an option at the moment?
  6. The hard drives (in case you're wondering): two will go in RAID 1 to store my photographs.

Any comments/suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

You seem pretty upto date with it all. The components you have seem pretty good. Don't know enough to comment on screen/SSD/Soundcard though but otherwise spot on.

Only thing on GPU is maybe wait until 58XX cards later this month, especially on that budget. PSU is fine. Only thing maybe is HDD... Do you need Blacks if they are mainly for storage? Maybe the more economical Greens would be better suited. I suppose it depends how important performance is for you in this area.

Yeah, I should have said: I'll be building in 4-6 weeks' time, once I've finished moving house. So, with any luck, I'll replace the 4890 with a 58xx.

You might have a point there. I'll look in more detail at the relevant stats. My main activity is RAW file processing, and my current PC simply isn't up to the job. Each file is ~20 MB, so hard drive performance is a bit of an issue; but it's more about CPU and number crunching, really. Anyway, thanks for pointing that out! :)
