Opinions needed on how to modify my bathroom

My bathroom's quite small (2660mm x 1520mm), but was hoping to rip out my rather small shower and fit some kind of shower/bath combo. I don't often have baths, but it would be nice to have the option from time to time. The thing is, I don't know if I have enough space.

The back wall you can see there is 1520mm wide. The wall on the left, the gap between the toilet and the back wall is 1420mm. The wall on the right is 1460mm until the wooden door frame.

What do you think I should do with the space? Should I fit a rather short (1500mm) bath, fit a corner bath unit (maybe 1350x1350), or a semi corner bath, where one side is 1500mm and the other side is 1000mm, or just forget about a bath altogether and get a really nice large shower (big enough for 2 people maybe ;) )?

Has anyone tried a whirlpool bath? Are they any good, or a gimmick that you no longer use?

Wow that's small...might just be best off having a hot tub in the garden? A bath in a bathroom that size would surely ruin it and leave you so little space?

Wish I had a garden! I live on the 4th floor of a 5 storey apartment block!

I think the photo makes it look smaller than it actually is, because of the angle. I'll try to take another.

Any chance of knocking through to another room and extending it or making it en suite?

Otherwise your quite limited due to space, so probably just changing the shower and décor.

Ah okay.

What about looking into purchasing a new toilet? I've seen ones that fit very nicely into the corner and it could make a tiny bit more space? If not, your best bet is what Teki187 suggests. :)

Here's a couple more photos and a quick sketch of the existing layout. The sink / table is on the left, toilet in the middle, shower currently on the right.

Maybe there isn't enough space to even contemplate this, but there's a bit of wasted space on the right of the shower, which got me thinking about it.

The bedroom next door is a little small, so wouldn't really want to knock through the wall. Possibly could go the other way though, through to the dining room, which is quite large. Probably too much hassle for me though!

I have a whirlpool bath and its just a gimmick and has another problem, without very regular use the jets gunge up with soap and the jet pipework holds water after the bath has drained so you end up with stagnant water trapped. It becomes a real pain having to keep cleaning it all out.

I am going to replace the bath with a new one without the spa function.

For your bathroom I would look at something like this bath

I'd personally remove the sink and then put the toilet where the sink is.

That way you'd have more room to put a bath in there.

I think your current priority is ventilation. You don't appear to have any.

Forget the bath idea; just go for a large shower.

If you realy want a bath I would go for something like Thorne has posted. I would probably go for a bigger shower personally though.

I would have the entire room as a walk in shower, I am currently replacing my standard box type shower unit for a single sheet glass partition with a wet area.

Give the place a larger sense of space, my bathroom is probably similar dimentions to yours. 2.2m/sq iirc

Thanks guys,

That's settled then - shower it is!

I do have another bathroom in the apartment, but it's tiny, more like a cupboard, with a small basin and toilet. Had originally thought that would be quite good as a walk-in wetroom.

I like the idea of a single sheet glass partition, so will see what sort of thing I can get out here.
