I am looking at getting a router to replace my rubbish USB ADSL modem and a few people have suggested the Belkin 7633.

Is this a good router?? I dont need wireless yet (but probably will in the future) and I wanted one that would work now with my Bulldog 8mb service but also with ADSL2 in the future.

Anyone got any opinions??

Belkin stuff is utter crud, I'd avoid it like the plague.

I'd look at a Netgear DG834, or go for the DG834G (not the GT) if you decide to go for wireless now.

its the best router for +2mb connections and adsl

go to www.adslguide.org.uk and check out the message baords and look at the bulldog forums, ppl rave bout it

also netgears are flakey specially the 843gt had to die on me and would only sync at 2-3meg, the belkin lets me sync at 5 meg so not all belkin stuff is crud this particular router is ace

ive just gone for one , should be here on monday, its meant to be brilliant for adsl2 lines, people are getting better speeds on it than other routers and its more stable.(seems to hold synch better at low snr)

the interface is meant to be very basic though.

its supposed to be the same chipset as the DG834GT , which ive got as well, but its dodgy as anything, dropping the connection all the time ,even with the latest firmware.(DG834G is stable though) Im not sure anything else is different on the router , il see how i go with it compared to the GT.

im on bulldog upto 8mb, i could only get 1mb previously, with the dg834g i get 1.7mb, with the GT i get 2.4 to 2.9.
