Opinions on range cookers

In the market for a cooker/oven. Have been told that range cookers are worth the money, but struggling to understand why or how, given I've never used one.

Welcoming pros/cons to help me decide.

You pay a premium for range cookers for the twee asthetic and a lot of the mid range products are actually surprisingly poor quality for the money you spend so my advise is don't bother unless you want the look. They are also a pain to keep clean with freestanding sides collecting gubbins.
