any ideas if this would make a decent machine? Improvements or other comments appreciated

you should definitely get 4 gigs of ram (2x2gb) as memory is dirt cheap at the moment. make sure your OS is 64 bit though.

i don't think the velociraptors are that much faster than normal 320gb drives, you could save some money there.

not my choice of graphics card, id go for a 4870 or a 4870x2 if i had the money

other than that its a nice system =)

I would second that.. Why XP?

Vista 64 will make best use of 4gb and is trouble free.
