Opinions on system upgrade please

Hi,

My current system is i7 920 [email protected] on Gigabyte EX58-UD3R with corsair xms3 6GB PC-12800C9 tri channel. I've bought it from OC 3.5 year ago (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/newsl...tm_source=newsletter20100127&utm_medium=email).
I ordered recently SSD and making up my mind on GFX upgrade but not sure if instead just buy a new OC system and gift my current one to my father. I did build my own PC in the past and it definitely is not worth the hassle when Overclockers can do it for you!
So I would appreciate some opinions if it is worth upgrading now or wait a bit longer with 920? I use it mostly for gaming, but the most demanding games I've played were Skyrim or witcher 2.

Unless you are struggling with certain tasks or when gaming, I don`t see the point.
What Gpu do you currently have?

XFX 5850, which is struggling on some games. Had plan to upgrade to gtx 770 or 780, so it would last me for another 3 years. Also was thinking on changing RAM to 12GB.

Is the screen 1080p or..?

Either of those would be good, the 670 would also be a good 'right now' solution, not sure about it lasting three years though.

I have Hazro monitor and love playing on 2560x1440 ; )
Never considered anything lower than gtx 770 to be honest, but looking at comparisons with 670 it is pretty decent. As I don't play anything so demanding might be more reasonable option. I have 850W PSU so can always go SLI I guess.
