I'm building a PC for a friend to be used mainly for 3D graphical modeling. I've got a tight budget of about £500 all in to do it with.

So far I've got the following penned down ready to order:

C2D E6320 CPU
Asus P5NE-Sli mainboard
Arctic Cooling P7 Freezer Pro S775
2x1Gb Corsair DDR2 PC2 5300 RAM
XFX 7900GS Graphics Card
160GB SATA WD HDD
18X SATA DVD-RW
Antec Sonata Case with 450W SmartPower 2.0 PSU

I would like to overclock the CPU to get more speed, nothing silly but hopefully near to 2.8-3Ghz. Is this likely with these components and will the Arctic cooler fit this board?

It was a tough choice between the 7900GS and an ATI X1950 Pro, the nVidia ofering edged it on price. Would the X1950 Pro be a better card? I doubt the board would ever be used for SLi anyway. Also is 450W enough to power the unit?

Cheers!

If you can fit the X1950pro into the budget then get it, it is the better card. Otherwise it looks fine, the cooler should fit the motherboard but I'd suggest PC6400 if you are aiming for 2.8ghz or above as you have a 7x multiplier on the E6320 which means you need 400mhz (or more) on the Ram e.g. PC6400 speeds, OcUK PC6400 at ~£80 would be fine for these purposes. Finally the PSU supplied with the case is up to the job. :)
