I am having trouble choosing a new wc loop

I have a i5 sandybridge in a cm690ii advanced case. I built this a couple of months ago and decided I wanted a smaller case (previously on a v2000 with phase and watercooling) and that I didn't really need anything other than air cooling to achieve a good of which has been proved true (I have 4.6ghz)

However I am now missing the wc mainly for.the quiet and bling so I have decided to go back.

I am considering two options.

1. Xspc rasa rs240 kit. This because I will need this Rad or a swiftech 220qp to fit in the top of the case (my current Psu doesn't give me room in the bottom of the case). Also this kit would make a really neat CPU only loop and look great with some black tubing as its all black and my mobo, ram, gfx card and case internals are all black. The thing I am unsure of is if the pump is that good.

Option 2.
I still need a slim 220 Rad but I could use my current xspc Delta block ( I have bought a new mount but this is stainless so I will be wanting to spray that black). I have an ek multioption Res I could use but would like a new pump. My current preference would be a d5 with perhaps a top. This would all need to go in the drive bays and I can't help thinking it wouldn't be a neat as the xspc 750 pump Res and would I see any really performance difference and in all of this its the volts limiting my oc, not temps.

So summarizing, option 1 would be easy and neat but perhaps a performance compromise. Option 2 requires a bit more messing about, I have to think about how to mount the pump and Res but I do end up with one of the best pumps on the market but with an older CPU block.

The cost of the two options is probably equal (I have fans and barbs knocking around) so which would you go for and why? Or is there something else.

Thx

Check this Pump Out.

Hi, heres another pump you might consider a SwifTech MCP35X Pump with PWM, its been out a while but what makes it different from other pumps the speed[RPM] is controled by PWM, like your CPU. l,m using one but did a small mod which helps cut out the noise.

You can read this rewiew down by martinsliquidlab - http://martinsliquidlab.org/2011/02/25/swiftech-mcp-35x-reservoir/

As l say been running one for a couple of weeks and can't fault it at all, you have a chose of a custom reservior made by Swiftech which l'm using or a XSPC Dual Bay DDC Reservoir, if l had known about the XSPC Reservior l would have bought that one instead.

Check out my little review l did of the SwifTech MCP35X Pump - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18292428

Now I've seen a few pics of the xspc res in the cm690ii from the front, I'm not that convinced. It look for me too shiny so I may go for internal res or pump top res

so now i'm looking for a new short psu so I can go with the rx240 in the bottom of the case and either a d5/dcc with a top res in one of the bays

ok.

current preference is

d5 + Ek XRES TOP 100
rx240 radiator
my current xspc delta v3 block
1/2" barbs and 7/16" black masterkleer
psu = xfx 650w core edition

not going to bother with a top mounted slim rad now

need to work out in your head (or draw it) whitch way around your loop is going to go.

i just looked at the Ek XRES TOP 100 and in my rig it would not work right. no saying it will not in yours but you always need to play how and were all the bits are going to go and which way the tubes are etc

For short PSU's, take a look at Silverstone's. My 1kw modular is just 14cm long

My personal rad preference would be the 240 version of this:

Ok. Got a ddc-1t plus 18w on the way and will be going for the sr1 240 mainly as its pretty short ( thanks for the recommendation ) . Still struggling on the Psu but going to wait until the rad is installed and measure up. Saw a pic of that rad with a corsair hx650 which just fit. The other psu on my price range are too long I think of have dodgy reviews

Thinking of the xspc ddc Res top. Just need to think where to fit it

Sr1 240 and a xspc ddc Res top now ordered. Starting spraying the stainless steel universal mount I got for my old Delta block Matt black along with the screws etc.

Psu to follow

So some of the gear has now turned up.

The SR1 240 is now fitted and measuring up there is about 18cm space of psu and cables so I am going to go for a corsair tx750 v2 tomorrow.

The main prob I have is the xspc res top as I have no way of fitting it in unless I take out all the 3.5" bays. Don't fancy that so that one's going on MM and I'll have to pick up the xspc dual bay ddc res tomorrow. Not mad on the looks but it will fit. The spraying of the old cpu block mount looks good. I like the black tubing I got and it should look nice and darkly understated when finished.

I'll take this all to a build log and post a link in the next day or so - unfortunately 10 yr wedding anniversary tomorrow is going to prevent immediate progress.

The corsair tx650 and the sr1240 fit great in the bottom together.

The xspc ddc dual bay Res looks better in the flesh than on some of the pics I have seen

i'm not a massive fan of watercooling personally, i like only needing to clean out dust with compressed air once or twice a year.

Changing fluids and cleaning out dust is too much hassle for a lazy arse like me :D

and the idea of leaks??
