My friends laptop has completed knackered after a flood of problems (Acer... avoid at all costs)

Now he needs a new laptop, he is into gaming and does a lot of 3D modelling in 3DS max and photoshop work.

Could anyone give me an idea of a good laptop to match his requirements?

Also he might be interested in a desktop, so any specs would be welcome!

Budget £500 - £600

Desktop: Doesn't need OS.

If your not bothered about overlcocking you could save a lot, which could be put towards more RAM.

You could drop down to a i5-3450 (simular) on a b75 board, saves you about £50 right there.

For CAD work, id say 16GB or RAM is a good amount, sometimes 8gb just doesn't cut it.
