Hiya all

Im new to this computer building stuff and I was just wondering wether my system was half decent. Im using the following stuff,

Cpu, QX6700
Mobo, Asus Striker 2 extreme 780i
Ram, 4GB Corsair Dominator Pc-8500
HDD, 1TB Western Digital 32mb buffer
GPU, 2 x XFX GTX 275
Audio, Fx Supreme 2
Psu, Coolermaster 1250 watt
Case, Antec 1200

Thanks for the replies, I mainly use it for gaming and the surfing the net and a little word processing

I was just asking as im not to sure. Ive just started to use the pc over my old dead console ( 360 ) amd I was just wondering wether or not this pc would play new games etc or does it need upgrading?

OK as is but I would imagine your CPU is bottlenecking your GTX 275's, but I doubt if you'd notice any great improvement from updating to a newer skt775 chip, so looks like an upgrade path for the future for you is i7 or i5 when it's out. Obviously that means CPU, RAM and Mobo so I'd hang on for a while and see what prices do over the next few months.

You have 2 x 275 and your not a "PC gamer", that is madness. Go and buy lots of games NOW! Steam is your friend

If you played Xbox live, I think Steam Is KIND of like that, you can buy your games at their store and download them, add friends, gift games to friends vice versa and whatever really, to get the best idea of what it is, head on over to their store like Keto said.

Steam is the best way to get games really, unless you have a shocking internet connection. At uni it took me like 4 days to get gta4 when it was released since they cap p2p or how ever they do it, 14GB is hard at 50kb/s.

That system should beast everything good luck with your new found PC gaming, 10x better than consoles which are just sooo low spec :P

i would change the Q6700 for the Q9550 the 40£ difference is worth it:D

however for just gaming an 8500 would be excellent as well:D

It's an Extreme Edition QX6700 with an unlocked multiplier, cannot see the point in changing for a Q9550 or an E8500?? Just clock the nuts off it ;)

To the op, get gaming on that rig, 2 x 275 gtx in sli sounds very good, also try and overclock the cpu a bit more, and your psu is fine, if you ever decide to add any more hard drives etc at least you have the power on tap.
