Thanks for earlier feedback regarding intels, I've managed to build a fairly cheap spec one now. My main concern is whether it's a waste of money and if i'll be dissapointed.

I've got 2 builds, a budget 'should pick this one' model and a 'I want this one but can't really afford it the wife will eat my nads' model.....

Does anyone have the ability to look at a rig and say, "hmm, that one will get about XXXX 3DM06 and that on XXXX, or that one will get XXFPS in Crysis on 1650x1020(?) and that one will get XXFPS.

That way I can kinda sum up cost Vs quality?

2 options: (feel free to tweak!)

Budget:

Case: £75 Silverstone Sugo SG01
Mobo: £42 Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H GeForce 7100 Micro-ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2
Processor: £95 Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.66GHz (1333FSB)
RAM: £30 GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
HD: £58 Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD753LJ)
Graphics: £99 BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
Cooler: £25 Scythe Mini Ninja CPU Cooler
OS: £60 Windows Vista Prem 64 Bit

£484

'I want'

Case: £75 Silverstone Sugo SG01
Mobo: £60 Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R Micro ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2
Processor: £120 Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB)
RAM: £60 2x GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
HD: £86 Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM
Graphics: £190 Point of View GeForce 8800 GTX "MotoGP & Settlers Edition" 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
Cooler: £25 Scythe Mini Ninja CPU Cooler
OS: £60 Windows Vista Prem 64 Bit

£676

Can't get the shopping cart screenshot to work as on other posts?

Cheers

This might help you decide

I wouldn't bother getting a 8800GTX if u can wait 2 weeks new ati/nvidia cards will be out then, you could see if the newer ati cards are better than a 8800GTX and they should be cheaper.

If you can't wait look into getting a 8800GTS 512 uses a different core than the 8800GTS 640 and will give you more FPS in most games.

Also if you are going to be keeping the system for more than a year or 2 then try and get a Q6600 cpu. 4Gb of ram helps a lot in vista makes everything run a lot smoother but wont increase FPS in games by much.

Get 2x 2 gig dimms instead of 4x1 gig (ram) as its harder to overclock with 4 dimms (plus you can have 8gig one day for vista 64...)
