Just got the following 144:

CAAGC 0427TPMW

before I spend the weekend trying to get more than is possible - whats the general opinion on what I should expect?

no worries, got to go out now, plse post if you find anything, I'll give it crack at the weekend and report my findings

I could take a guess that that chip is infact a Socket 940 Opteron 144.

the all Opteron 939's are generally "05**" or "06**". If I recall these are generally good for 2.4-2.5Ghz with a decent 940 board.

just checked - it is a 940!

Why dont they specify this when you buy them - what a waste of time!!!! - only got a 939 board to use to play with it!!!!!

You would have thought they would have made it plain and simple for guys like me

Does OcUK sell 940 boards?

That's odd, OCUK don't even sell Opteron 940pins anymore. Must have been a mistake on their behalf, they'll probably change it no problem.

You can return it under distance selling regs if it is was delivered for a full refund, for the cost of your return postage.
