Opteron 146 or A64 3700+ ?

Looking to get another CPU and as per the thread title, which one have people had the most luck overclocking.
Aiming for 2.8Ghz, anything more is a bonus.
Its probably going to be a recent stepping if that helps.

from what i've heard the latest batch of 3700's haven't been clocking too well, although i'm sure some 3700 owners will correct me. with the 146's pretty much everyone has reached 2.8ghz and those who haven't, haven't done so because of other problems such as max htt reached on their mobo.

I'd go for the opty if you can find one, should hit those sorts of speeds without problems and if your lucky be a little cheaper than the 3700

my 3700 san diego is a better clocker then my opteron 146

I,ve ordered the 3700. I,ll see how it goes. Hopefully it.ll be better than the 144 its replacing.
Who knows, at this rate I may end up ordering a 146 by the end of this week as well if they carry on upsetting me like the 144.
