opteron 146 to 175 upgrade, worth it?

i'm not going to go AM2 just yet, 4x1gb corsair 3200 sticks, so would be a shame to 'waste' them

any good review sites comparing single core opterons with dual core opterons? -how do the dual core's usually clock? -my 146 (2.0 stock) is running fine at 2.7, with watercooling and no fans (just a large rad)

mainly use my pc for gaming and encoding sound/video

-edit, also if i'm overclocking anyway, is there any point in getting the 175, should i just go for a 170 or even a 165 (or would the 175 have a 'better' core)

I'm about to make the move from a 146 @ 2.7 under water to a 165.

Hopefully it'll go up to the same speed as the 146 so there won't be a performance loss with single threaded apps but a nice performance gain where the second core can be used.

For around £100 it'll keep me ticking over til a full upgrade in the new year.

exactly what i was thinking, after looking around some more, i've ordered a 175

I had a 3700+ SD @ 2.6ghz and now have an opty 165 @ 2.8ghz. Wonderful upgrade - don't regret it for one minute!

There's usually some very nice 165s and 170s on the bay and they often give you the steppping, which is nice! Failing that, MM is your friend
