Opteron 146 to an AMD Athlon 64 4000

Unfortunately I am stuck with a 939 Opteron set up that I would like to keep running for a few months until I possibly undertake my next major upgrade.
My question is, is it worth changing from an AMD Opteron 146 to an AMD Athlon 64 4000 as a short term stop gap?
I do not want to spend money on more memory as next upgrade will be a DDR2 mobo.
