Hey guys, just trying to diagnose why my computer keeps getting machine check exception errors and think it might be my cpu.

What should my temps be for an opty 165 at stock speeds. Any help here would be ace.
Cheers, Nixeh

are you using stock cooler, and how many fans have you got in the case

i am using the stock cooler (the new one with the heatpipes) i have 4 fans.
1x120mm intake on front
1x120mm outtake on back
1x120mm intake on side panel over graphics
1x80mm intake on side panel over cpu.

Try not using the intake fan on side panel over CPU, just as a test. This has been known to disrput the air flow around the CPU, and can in some instances decrease the quantity and quality of air being sucked in by the fan on the heatsink.

I won't guarantee that's the problem, but it's worth checking out.

The 165 runs quite warm.

Mine was low around 45 under load with the stock cooler, idle with cool and quite would drop to a little over 30.

Gets a lot hotter when overclocked though.

Mine's at about 45 load at stock, but went to 50C at 2380mhz. Using stock cooler, 80mm and 92mm in the front, 80mm in the side and 2 80mm in the rear.

It's just abouve 30C idle though, with cool and quiet off.

my one idles about 36 and max at 48 with amd heatsink with pipes. I have 9cm intake and 80 in the back + 2 x80 in PSU

The overclock is currently 10x265 at 1.425v in mobo (almost 1.48v says Speed Fan at full load)

I can overclock to 10x275 (max HTT of my mobo) and still under 50C but then I have to run memory at 200  . At 10x265 memory runs at 221 and is memtest stable at 228mhz and over but I guess the opteron memory controler doesn't like high speeds with high overclocks :o

 didn't read properly!!!! its for opteronn dual core!!!!
