Hi all,
I've currently got a 3700+ sandiago in my shuttle sn25p, and finally looking to up grade. The two I'm looking at are the opteron 165 (stepping: CCBWE 0551) or a 4200+ (steping: LCB9E 0652RPMW). The thing with the SN25P is the FSB only runs to 300MHz, so was wondering if having the higher multi of the 4200+ would be better over the 2mb l2 cache on the 165. Also any advice on the steppings shown (how good they are etc) would be appreciated.

Cheers
Dan Chambers
P.s. Thanks to MoodyB for the help earlier!

The 4200+ for sure. The CCBWE 0551 is one of the worst of 165 steppings. You'll need a significant voltage increase for 2.6GHz+ and it'll run toasty.

The LCB9E is a failed toledo and it seems to be doing very well up to around 2.8GHz with a little voltage increase.
