Yeh im running the memory quite loose at the minute until i can find a steady FSB.

What speed is your CPU at? I seem to have hit a brick wall at around 2.75ghz - Seems to be memory giving me problems, it's similar to yours, Platinum EL or what have you. Timings are loose on it, won't perform :(

What was it advertised as and what have you ended up with?

Was this a US retailer or off the bay?

Yup US Retailer 100% positive feedback of over 300 and listed as CCBBE 610DPMW also with this photo

I have ended up with CCBWE 0604 TPMW reports suggest that its no better than the one i just sold for a fair bit less than this one cost me

Retailer with feedback? You mean it was an ebay auction or a normal website that just provided a feedback system?

Got me worried now as I've got one coming from an ebay seller with feedback of just over 300 :(

Well I'm happy that it's not who I've just bought one from but still gutted for you tbh.

I take it you've sent him a rather choice email about it, any response yet?

Threaten him with PayPal, that should scare him.PayPal can halt his account until you are happy. It happened to me, and i was in the right, some freak got my account frozen with paypal, and it wasnt even my fault. PayPal should be the way to go, or if you paid by VISA, try recover your money from them.At the end of the day its a case of fraud.

My 165 arrived from the States today a CCBBE 0610DPMW "904" supposed to be one of the best. All I can say is clocking my 146 was a breeze compared to this!

To begin with my windows system was a tad flaky recently with error messages galore. When I installed the 165 and new GSKILL 400 HZ it told me I had new hardware (such as my scanner!)and it would install it. It failed to install my Saitek Gamers Keyboard correctly.

Ive only been able to run up to an HTT of 287 which gives me 2583Mhz and thats at 1.55volts. Memory is running at 234.8. Above that I was getting BSOD's with error messages like "IRQ not less or equal" or NTFS errors. I also had some data corruption and CHKDSK ran automatically.

Advice please:
are BSOD's normally the stopping point for clocking?
would I have been better to do a clean install of XP?
should I just accept that this chip will not any further on air(si-120 and akasa 120 fan)?

I can only get to 2205 mhz, thats 9*245 .get a better cooler like an Artic Freezer 64 Pro, see if that helps. Im new to this clocking stuff but i know that you need a good cooler. And make sure u have the microsoft dual-core windows fix/patch.

I thought the si-120 was a really good cooler. I installed the hotfix.

Im not saying your cooler is bad.I just know that a lot of people on here told me to get the artic cooler 64 freezer. Its quiet and keeps my cpu cold.Wish i could get to 2.5 ghz.Think my mate sgoaty will give me some advise tomorrow.

try the dual core patch, see if that helps, BSOD is mem error, you may need to alter ram settings or latest bios or seach for stable ram setting for your mobo/ram/cpu config
most 165/170 should clock 2.5 - 2.6 stock volts, if yours doing 2.5 with 1.55v, somethings wrong there. you may need to do a clean install and go again
