Well mine is mighty fine....i run it @ 2.6ghz 24/7...does 2.8ghz @ 1.5v and i got a screenie of it @ 3ghz @ 1.55V....cooler Zalman CNPS-9500.

So it is possible for that stepping to reach 2.8Ghz, I guess its alll down to your actual chip.

Even then most DFI's do over 310 easy. Mine has been running 311 fine for months.

So it is possible for that stepping to reach 2.8Ghz, I guess its alll down to your actual chip.

I would stay away from that stepping tbh however its your call.....

You may just get lucky but thats what overclocking is like......for that amount of money are you willing to take the risk? Although the majority of users who have that chip cannot get it above 2.6ghz stable? No matter what mobo or hsf they use...

Well it was an ebay auction which I had already bid on and now I have won the auction, the good thing is that it only cost me £168 including postage for a retail cpu.

Nothing is guaranteed.....and no i do not waste my time in priming....and i'm no noob either...i've been around for many years.... have seen peeps system's become unstable after 24hrs priming it....as long as it's 32mb stable and does everything i want it to it's good enough for me....why say something is bad when you ain't got one....leave it to the users to comment.

Havent really started pushing it. It is 32m stable on both cores. Disregard the single 32m on the screen

The combination of my current ram (BH-5) and my ASUS A8N-E mobo not being able to go higher than 3.0 on the vdimm is holding me back.
Board can do 300+ HTT without breaking sweat. See if I get time to do some testing this week. Currently self-employed

Stepping is CCBWE 0551 VPMW.

the a8r32-mvp board will do 350htt but doesnt have the best voltage regulation though, id pick a DFI id would expect hem all do do at leat that

1) The peeps system which became unstable after 24hrs of priming was prob not due to the CPU
2) Its a forum - a question was asked therefore after researching the stepping I personally would stay away from it because the majority of ppl could not hit 2.8ghz...........Now if he wants to chance it good luck to him.....
3) As far as me not having one a) I wouldnt buy that due to its stepping and b) next week when I get my dual core opty 170 I will have

c) AFAIK + IMO if its not primed its unstable.....after many years experience I thought you would have learned that....

Overall its important to remember its potluck just cuz your neighbour gets 2.8ghz doesnt mean u will

Plus I think answering the guys questions instead of saying "hope its a good un" is helping him a little more than getting him to pay £168 and then saying well hope its a good un....

Also not 1 person with that stepping in this forum has replied saying they got 2.8ghz.....

would have gone for the 170 personally now that i have a 165 and tried it (170 is the one with the x10 multi, makes things a lot easier to get higher oc's afaik)

Ran into stabilitiy issues (failing prime etc) around 300Mhz on fsb
BUt thats how it goes, im by no means disapointed its a great chip and anything above 2.6 is really just for benchmarks imo

Hi xirokx....I could answer all your Q's but there's no point...i am not here to argue....i can only appologise if i hit a sore point....i will make it short and sweet ...if you like to prime crack on but a lot of peep's don't like me i will run 32mb + occt it and that's good enough for me....i have not encountered ay problem's at all... if you want to go by stepping there a lot of bad steppings out here,
165 + 170's...hope it's a good un...yes i'm afraid that's all you can hope for...and that goes for you too....good luck with your new chip...no harm done....and post some results when you get it.

vocch I am not here to argue either but I did not like the fact you were very short and abrupt so thought I would clarify my feelings....

As far as not liking you is concerned....I come here to learn so if you feel as if I dont I apologise because I dont think I could ever dislike anyone I had never met...

As far as steppings are concerned I am aware there are bad ones out there HENCE me advising him to stay away from it before you saying I was out of order for doing so...I dont like to think I give ppl bad advice or advise them to do something I would not....In this case as I said I had researched the stepping and thats what I found.....

My opty 170 is CCBWE 0609FPAW and yes of course I will post my result....thanks for the good luck
