Opteron 165 overclocks

I am gonna settle for 3.1 ghz has done 4 hours dual prime today think I can call that stable.

Well done mate, very nice clocks there. :)

Although personally I would not be happy with just a 4hr prime session. 12hr+ at least in my book. When I have the time I let mine run for over 24hrs!

You, thats what I heard too.

I'm currently testing at 3ghz, yes I am finally up there but...

I can't get it prime stable. But then again i'm only messing around with it and not ttrying very hard...

Agent.

How many volts are you pumping through it dude?

Will be interesting to compare, as you have a very similar chip to myself.

I've got mine at 2.2ghz. It's a mild overclock. Not really tried to push it further. I might be tempted to have a go after seening some of the results here. I think I should be able to get 2.5ghz.

Memory might be holding me back. Geil Value 1Gb Dual channel Kit

Mine is still sitting at 2.47Ghz but it is one of the supposed bad clockers as its a CCBWE 0551UPMW. I have it running at 1.45v right now but I still have to play with the memory timings to see if I can make it any faster.

I'm currently testing back at 2.92ghz (255*9) at 1.45vs.

At 3ghz I was using 1.5vs but my cooling wasn't good enough to keep it below 50C.

But atm 1.45vs at 2.92ghz is good enough for me until my water arrives...

Have you set your chip up your scoobie?

Not yet, it was sent out yesterday and on its way via USPS, which I can track online, (delivery takes 3-5 working days) so hopefully end of the week fingers crossed. :)
Looking really forward to overclocking it. :D

a quick questions if i may.

I currently have a 3700+ clocked @ 2.75 but have the oppurtunity to purchase a 165 opty.

Would this be a good upgrade? I like the idea of going dual core and the one on offer is supposed to be a good clocker.

The canadian guy closed the auction early, got a private offer I assume :( But fortunately i've just found a site in the US that allows you to choose the stepping of the CPU and will ship to the UK :)

Didn't think you could close the auction early?

How much is the other site selling them for?

Yeah you can close auctions early if you wish, have to go through a procedure where you state a reason, item number etc. to Ebay.

£201 including postage to the UK. It's decent stepping too, which I don't think is too bad :)

Finally got motherboard delivered, time for some clocks! Steppings as per my previous post in this thread.

UNFORTUNATLEY, XP reinstall isn't happening, so I'm stuck on previous install with certain drivers in a mess but 165 Opteron seems happy enough. Stock Pi time was 51secs :(, I started to steadily raise HTT, testing as I went... ah sod it, whacked it up to 270 (still on 1.2 bios till i sort out network drivers and plug in floppy drive) with 1.4v and it having a quick Prime on each core before I go to sleep. Pi time down to 39.9. Mem running as slow as possible atm.

Inspired by this thread i have just ordered myself a CCBBE 0610DPMW from the states. oops I have too many CPUs
Just done exactly the same thing myself! Its also got the magic "904" number as well. Must be insane but I can remember doing the same thing with a celeron chip from the USA about 10 or 11 years ago.

Err... This can't be right..!

I've got this DPMW running at 2.92ghz with 1.45v and its only touching 45C on air..!!

Can't wait to get my water cooling togther. Got the CPU block. Pump and fans are coming soon.

Just gotta find a res, rev and some tubing.

yep, thats what i found, 0609 fpmw i have went around 42-44c with 1.6v,
dpmw at same settings 38c, 2x fans on 5v, from 1.5v to 1.6v temps seems to stay the same.

After 7 hours of Priming last night my 0609FPMW was at 52C. That's with a Freezer64.

165@270*9 = 2430 (1.4v) I havn't tried lowering volts as have got just the chip.

Mine 165 goes up to 62c when priming which is a little worrying really. I may just wait to see if the thermal paste needs to burn in more or if the heatsink may need reseating and then I will use some Arctic Silver.

Hmmm, you might be able to improve that. I'm using AS5, but that won't get you 10degrees. What volts was that and what is your case temperature?
