Opteron 170s from OCUK...

..... looks into crystal ball.

I dunno as soon as they start running short on the current steppings they have. An indication of a change in stepping is a price rise or fall ;)

The 06 steppings are suppose to be really good. Theres a lot in the 170 overclocking thread about the 170. Most people are using the 0551 stepping and getting to 2.6ghz

That thread is mainly 0550 stepping :(
How have people been getting the 06 stepping already? Only 1 other etailer I can find have them in stock (although i'm unsure of there stepping)...

ive got 0551, clock in sig

CPU @ 2600Mhz (260x10) 1.37v
RAM @ 260Mhz (520DDR)
Air cooled on a Zalman 9500

Temps
(Idle temps are not cold boot)
CPU - Idle: 25*C | Load: 40*C
PWMIC - Idle: 40*C | Load: 50*C

can easy push it further but rams holding me back (dont want to put it on a divider)

What kind of stability testing you done Xionic?

Thanks Xionic - that gives me hope for something better than 2.5!
Don't get your hopes up based on a semi-suicide shot from CPU-z wait until you see some solid proof otherwise you will be disappointed! :(

BTW: why not post here:

*** Official Opteron 170 Ocing Thread ***

I got an unstable 2.6Ghz from my Opty 170 regardless of voltage. Changed the RAM from TwinMOS to G-Skill, and now get a completely stable 2.65Ghz @ 1.5V. Tested with MemTest86, 3dMark06, dual-Prime95 and dual-SuperPI 32M. Messing with the settings on the old RAM (relaxing the timings and running it at under 200Mhz) didn't seem to make any difference :/

Seems to idle at 32, and load is 46c.

Don't know the stepping, but only bought it directly from the shop last Saturday so assuming an 0551.

played 4 hours of FEAR none stop on max settings @ 1280x1024, ran all 3DMarks. Dual SuperPi@32M. only had cpu a couple of days so aint done a long Dual-Prime yet. also ran dual CPU Burn for 2 hours. but thats about it. i work a lot and due to dodgy wiring dont leave my PC on to do long Primes

heres a screen of 1MB SuperPi, will get some more screens and post em

1mb Superpi aint a *** stability test. A minimum 32mb spuper pi (apx 30 mins) is a better indication of stability although I have had cpu's pass 32mbSP and fail dual prime95 instantly. P95/SP2004 are imo, the best stability tests (or at least the hardest to pass).

Agree, IMO if you can't get 8-12 Hours Prime Stable then it isn't a good clock, it took me 3 weeks to clock my Opty but it is solid as a rock at 2.6GHz,..all day every day love it !

Now looking at Dual core, but can't decide what,...hmmmm Bang for Buck is my priority , hence the Opty 144, opinions ??

heres a 4 hour dual prime, took the screeny while is was still running give u an idea of load temps, longest i could leave it as i cant leave my pc on over night or unsupervised, as its in the attic and likely to burn the house down, as the wiring in this place is shot. will get a 12 hour one soon (as im overly confident it will do one). when i have a day off work.
